Palatial 'Butterfly home' has $3.99M price tag

A palatial, 22,000-square-foot mansion known as the "Butterfly home" located near the McDowell Mountains in Fountain Hills is for sale. The asking price is $3,999,999.

The home is named after the huge ornate butterfly iron front door that opens into a room with a marble butterfly floor. It has four bedrooms and eight bathrooms.

The house is owned by Carl and Judith Weir and was built in 2005.

The home also has soaring ceilings as high as 24 feet, two elevators, an 8-foot glass dome, 18 marble columns, French rococo gilded plaster walls as well as marble, porcelain and black walnut floors. 

Frank Aazami of Russ Lyon Sotheby's has the listing for the three-story mansion situated on 3.4 acres.
